SUMMARY:Cairo Photoweek 2025 Open Call
DESCRIPTION:Sard: \n“Sard” (the Arabic word for “Narrative”) is a photography exhibition curated by Photopia to be exhibited at Cairo Photo Week. “Sard” Exhibition showcases a powerful visual and written narrative of diverse photo stories about today’s Egypt and the Arab World as photographed and narrated by established or emerging photographers from Egypt & the region.\nAfter the impactful success of Sard at past editions at Cairo Photo Week, Alexandria Photo Week and El Gouna Photo Week, we are pleased to announce the opening of submission for photographers in Egypt & the Arab World.\nIn this Edition: \nIn this edition of Sard we introduce the audio component as part of the photographic project and how it can change the perception of the subject matter and deepen the narrative. By pairing sound with images, we aim to engage not only the visual senses but also the auditory, creating a more immersive and layered experience for the viewer. Note: Audio must be a complementing part of the story (projects that include music or sound that has no relevance to the storyline, will be rejected).\nSard IV tells a bigger story beyond exhibition walls featuring real life social, socio-political or socio- economic stories that matter to the public. Sard is concerned with the issues of the youth, public space, human bodies, socio-economic, socio-political, women, co-existence and/or  generational conflict…among many more.\nWho should apply: \nMid-career or established Egyptian and Arab documentary photographers who have a complete story, ongoing project or long-term project.\nIt is inevitable to expand across the region to feature stories from the Arab World being Egypt’s geo-social neighbor as reminder that we always share common stories, challenges and aspirations.\nSubmission requirements: \n\nThe project must be complete, whether the project is still ongoing or a long-term project.\nMinimum of 10 photos to be submitted.\nA completing audio should be submitted alongside the project (projects that include music or sound that has no relevance to the storyline, will be rejected).\nA written narrative of minimum 500 words.\nIn case the project is complete, it has to be a recent project created between 2023 & 2024.\nProject should be shoot using a camera.
